A Conservative MP has been suspended amid an investigation into allegations about his behaviour.
David Warburton, MP for Somerton and Frome, had the Tory whip eliminated after formal complaints have been made by two ladies to the brand new parliamentary harassment watchdog.
The Telegraph stated parliament’s Unbiased Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) obtained a report claiming the MP, who sits on the backbenches, had behaved inappropriately.
Each complainants accuse Mr Warburton of undesirable sexual feedback and sexual touching, in line with The Instances.
He denies any wrongdoing and says he has “monumental quantities of defence”.
The politician is quoted as telling the newspaper: “I’ve monumental quantities of defence, however sadly the best way that issues work implies that doesn’t come out first.
“I’ve heard nothing in any way from the Unbiased Complaints and Grievance Scheme. I’m sorry, I can’t remark any additional.”
A spokesperson for the Whips Workplace stated: “David Warburton MP has had the Conservative Social gathering whip eliminated whereas the investigation is ongoing.”
Mr Warburton has been MP for Somerton and Frome since 2015.
The previous businessman is chair of the all-party parliamentary group on music and has beforehand been a member of the European scrutiny committee.
He lives close to Somerton, in Somerset, together with his spouse and their two kids.
The Unbiased Complaints and Grievance Scheme was arrange in 2019 following the MeToo motion in Westminster.
