Labour have chosen nurse Paulette Hamilton to contest Birmingham Erdington following the demise of MP Jack Dromey
The 73-year-old father-of-three, who had represented the voters since 2010, is known to have died from pure causes on January 7.
Ms Hamilton, who labored for the NHS for 25 years and re-joined the healthcare frontline in the course of the pandemic to help the vaccine rollout, has been an area councillor for over 17 years.
She stated Mr Dromey was a “fantastic man” and the by-election had come about “within the saddest of circumstances”.
“At first, I need to pay tribute to Jack Dromey,” Ms Hamilton stated.
“Jack was a beautiful man and he’ll be sorely missed in Erdington. He was keen about Erdington and cared deeply about everybody who lives right here.
“On a day like in the present day I’m pondering most of all about Jack’s household and associates. We’re all nonetheless grieving and this by-election has come about within the saddest of circumstances.”

The Erdington resident stated she understood the problems confronted by “each native household”, including she would “battle for each vote”.
“I’ve obtained a monitor document of getting issues completed. My precedence will probably be to revive group delight in Erdington – by tackling fly-tipping and regenerating the excessive road. I’ll deal with the problems round HMOs (home in a number of occupation) and excessive ranges of anti-social behaviour,” she stated.
