Tottenham have been knocked out of the Europa Convention League after forfeiting their remaining group stage match in opposition to Rennes, Uefa has confirmed.
Spurs have been unable to play the Group G tie, scheduled for December 9, after a Covid-19 outbreak of their first-team squad.
Antonio Conte’s facet wanted to beat the Ligue 1 group so as to advance to the knockout phases however Rennes have been awarded a 3-0 victory.
The end result leaves Spurs third within the group, behind winners Rennes and Dutch facet Vitesse Arnhem.
A press release from Uefa confirmed: “The Europa Convention League group stage match between Tottenham Hotspur and Stade Rennais, that was initially scheduled to be performed on 9 December 2021, as forfeited by Tottenham Hotspur, who’s subsequently deemed to have misplaced the match 0-3 in accordance to the rules of the Europa Convention League.”
